Indawo was appointed to undertake the asbestos roof replacement at Transnet Office Park in Cape Town. The scope of work included the safe removal of existing asbestos roofing and the installation of new, compliant roof sheeting.

Regulatory Compliance

In accordance with the Asbestos Abatement Regulations (2020), only registered and approved asbestos contractors are permitted to handle or remove asbestos materials in South Africa. Indawo is a fully registered asbestos contractor, authorised to carry out this specialised work.

Asbestos removal is a high-risk operation that requires strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993, as amended by Act No. 181 of 1993. Indawo adhered to the health and safety specifications set out by both the client’s Safety Officer and our in-house Health & Safety team.

Safety First

All personnel involved in the asbestos removal were equipped with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and the entire process was closely monitored, from removal to compliant disposal, ensuring the highest safety standards were maintained throughout the project.
